Roku 2004 ztvárnila jednu z rolí televizního filmu Speak z produkce Showtime, který si při své premiéře na filmovém festivalu Sundance v roce 2004 získal velkou přízeň filmové kritiky. Následující rok se objevila v dramatu Fierce People režiséra Griffina Dunnea, (který měl premiéru na letošním festivalu Tribeca) a ve filmu Zathura: Vesmírné dobrodružství (režie Jon Favreau), kde si zahrála starší sestru šestiletého Dannyho (Jonah Bobo) a desetiletého Waltera (Josh Hutcherson). Film vypráví o tom, jak Danny, zamčený v temném a strašidelném sklepě, objeví starou deskovou hru Zathura. Když se mu nedaří přimět bratra Waltera, aby si ji zahrál s ním, začne hrát sám. Už od prvního tahu je však jasné, že Zathura není jen tak obyčejná hra...
Mezi její další filmy patří Chyťte tu holku, Undertow, Cold Creek Manor a Životní jistoty.
Zazářila také ve dramatu Útěk do divočiny (into the wild/2007)kde si střihla roli mladé "hippísačky" Tracy Tatrové. Její výkon ve filmu sklidil velký úspěch a dobré ohlasy u kritiků.
Od 27.11.2008 jí můžeme vidět ve filmu Twilight (Stmívání) kde si zahraje jednu z hlavní role Isabellu Swanovou, která se vášnivě zamiluje do upíra Edwarda Cullena (Robert Pattinson).
Ale jak už to u Kristen bývá nejsou to zdaleka poslední filmy, které točí. Těšit se můžeme už na další filmové trháky...
